Intergenerational Day

On this Intergenerational Day, I’d like to share a big shout-out The Spires at Berry College (www.retireatberry.com), which has taken the spirit of intergenerational activities to a new level.

The concept of The Spires at Berry College was inspired by the Board of Directors at Berry College, and the idea was to create a community where older adults could grow and learn alongside the younger college students at Berry College. Residents of the retirement home just minutes away from Berry College can immerse themselves in the college experience through sitting in on classes and attending events on campus.

Since the community has opened, students have taken an active part of the community through work opportunities, internships, and fun events. Residents are active on the college campus through interview support, entrepreneurial activities, sporting events, and more. With access to the college’s 27,000 acre preserve, residents also have plenty of space to reflect and engage with others in the learning environment.

The Spires at Berry College is a great example of celebrating intergenerational connections. Fostering relationships between young adults and older adults can be so beneficial to both parties. Youthful energy is brought into the lives of the older adults while the younger adults can learn from the wisdom of older adults. These connections can be so impactful for everyone involved.

In collaboration with Lauren Rose Senior Advisors, your team can create an entire marketing story around how your intergenerational community supports these meaningful connections. We have experience working with these stories and communities, and we’d love to help you tell your community’s story surrounding intergenerational connections. Find out more by reaching out to us.
