Social Media for Senior Living Communities: Post YouTube Content and Utilize YouTube Ads
For our final article on how senior living communities can best utilize social media, we’re partnering with reCreative + Co., a creative marketing and design studio that has worked with senior living communities on digital marketing strategies for over a decade.
After talking about Facebook and Instagram so much, we want to focus on the value of channels outside of Meta. While Meta is certainly king at the moment, change is rapid and constant in the digital world. It’s important to make sure you have content on alternate channels – a “don’t put all your eggs in one basket” mindset.
The best channel to add in? We recommend YouTube.
Since its inception in 2005, YouTube has become one of the most used social channels out there. With over two billion logged-in users per month choosing YouTube as their online video platform, it is the top ad-supported streaming platform in the world. They also now provide users with long-form video content, short-form video content, shopping, and text and image feed posts.
Video content has been on the rise for years now, and that trend is unlikely to cease. Video is inherently more engaging than static images. It’s better suited for storytelling, gaining your audience’s trust, increasing brand awareness and loyalty, and relatability. With both horizontal and vertical videos, YouTube has positioned itself as the go-to video platform for any style and length of content, and any device.
YouTube is a platform in the Google family. This means that Google sorts through YouTube content to fill queries, increasing searchability and contributing to SEO strategy. By using SEO optimized titles and descriptions, you can increase your organic searchability to get discovered outside of your website.
Additionally, YouTube supports targeted ads that can be used to get your ads seen by your target audience. Filtering by location, age, and using affinity audiences allows you to find the exact audience you’re seeking and get your video ads seen by them. Depending on your goals, you can set up different types of ads to suit your needs and conduct tests to see what works best for your community.
While YouTube isn’t the only social media platform aside from Facebook and Instagram, it is likely the most beneficial to your senior living community. With a general target audience of adult children searching for care for their parents, X (formerly known as Twitter), TikTok, Pinterest, and others are unlikely to add enough value to be worth the effort.
Now, you’re equipped to take on social media for your senior living community without fear and trepidation. Want to chat about your community and its social strategies? Schedule a call with us here.
